I showcased this easy-to-use tracker on my IG Stories as part of my new normal in my blended remote teaching journey this year (2020-21). A lot of you were interested in using my template because it’s super easy on the eyes! Well, here it is and it’s EDITABLE!
First things first, this file is EDITABLE so it can be adjusted for your needs. It tracks per week so be sure to duplicate the file to use it as needed each week! Make a copy for each course you teach, as necessary!
Why is this tracker useful?
I use this tracker when I've got students working on an opener first thing as the period starts, to document attendance with the ease of checkboxes that automatically calculate for you the number of students checked and drop down menus with options such as Late (O/L) - online, Late (I/P) - In Person, Excused, etc. I also document things that may happen for each student in the virtual world such as all of the variety of technology issues like: Internet Issues, Weak Wifi, Mic not Working, Camera not working, etc, so that their participation for the day is not impacted.
In addition, I take note of their participation through checkboxes. I note things like if a student has their camera on (in the high school world, kids hate turning on their camera), if a student shared their work or discussed their answers, and also things like, if a student left the meeting or platform and didn’t come back, or if I called on a student and I had no response at all. I also document if a student goes to the bathroom. I kindly ask them to write in the chat box when they leave the space to get water or whatever it may be and when they come back.
For students who are in person, I also document COVID Safety. I track students taking their mask on and off, violating the 6ft distance in the room, sharing supplies with others, etc.
